Pawsitive Beginnings is a locally operated company owned by me, Candra Gurney. I was born and raised in Montrose and have had a deep love for animals all my life. Shortly after graduating high school, I had the wonderful opportunity to work for, and shadow under Becca Murphy at Golden Heart Canine, where I learned all the basics of dog training and fell in love! My passion for training took me to Highland Canine School for Dog Trainers in North Carolina where I got to learn from the top trainers in the industry.
I graduated in 2020 as a Master Dog Trainer with knowledge of obedience, behavior modification, police and military working dogs, detection, search and rescue, and with a specific concentration in service dog training. I returned back to Montrose to continue learning and growing my knowledge of dog training until I could finally branch off on my own. I have had the opportunity to train and work with a variety of breeds and have now trained hundreds of dogs. I have placed several service dogs in homes to assist those with disabilities and am excited that I get to continue serving this wonderful community.
